

Shirley Helen (Kenny) Saint, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025. Born February 5, 1935, in Buffalo, New York, to Herbert and Agnes Kenny, Shirley spent her formative years in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she attended Ursuline Academy. She later pursued her passion for education at Stephens College, graduating with a degree in preschool education.
In 1956, Shirley married the love of her life, Hugh Saint (deceased). As a devoted Air Force wife, she embraced the adventurous life that accompanied her husband’s career, residing in Mississippi, England, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Alabama, and Texas. Finally, she and Hugh retired to the sunny shores of Cape Coral, Florida.
Shirley was a devoted homemaker, nurturing her family with unwavering love and care. She briefly returned to her passion for teaching, working as a preschool teacher, before finding a fulfilling role at Cape Coral Hospital. Her compassionate spirit led her to the obstetrics department, where she became a valued and dedicated employee, further showcasing her nurturing nature. Shirley’s generous spirit, warmth, and friendliness touched the lives of everyone she met.
Shirley is survived by five of her six children: Janet Stovall (Thomas Stovall), Donna Hollaway (Larry Hollaway), Hugh Saint (Cammy Saint), Kathy Saint, and Chuck Saint. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Hugh Saint, and her daughter, Diane Gearhart. Shirley’s legacy extends to nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory and carry on her compassionate spirit.
Shirley’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and unwavering dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held in Shirley’s honor on February 15, 2025. Details of this event will be forthcoming.
