He was born on June 30, 1941 in Manhattan, New York. He joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. He
returned home to serve as a New York City Police Officer. He retired after 20 years on the job, along the way he also actively served in the Reserves. He served in the Navy, the National Guard, Air Force, and the Coast Guard. He was also an active member of the 10-13 Club. He moved to Florida in 1985 and became a Code Enforcement Officer. He loved running, racquet ball, boating, traveling, reading, cruising and playing cards with his buddies.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Margaret McNamara Edwards, and sisters Catherine Oelsner and Teresa Joan Ellis.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Claire Edwards and his loving children Patricia Brooks (Ray), Thomas Edwards (Lisa), and Robert Edwards (Jenny) all of Cape Coral, FL. He was the cherished Grandfather of Matthew Edwards and Mia Brooks. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Griffin and Patricia Teixeria and his brothers Robert Edwards, Charles Edwards and Frank Edwards.
Services will take place on Friday, March 12th at 2:00pm, visitation will begin at 12:00noon at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Blvd S. Cape Coral.
