Verna Kay Crawford Russell Gross, age 80 of Ft Myers, FL, formerly of Port Allegany, PA passed away on October 18, 2022. She was born October 22, 1941 and graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1959. Verna went on to graduate college at Bryant and Stratton College in 1961. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Water Utilities. Verna was a member of the Women of Faith and the Prayer Warriors. She loved to sew, play cards and volunteer at her grandchild’s school. Verna attended daily prayer meetings and was an avid reader.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Crotzer and Henry Crawford; her first husband, James Russell, Sr. and second husband, Gene Gross. She is survived by her children, James R. Russell, Jr. and Joseph A. (Tina) Russell; grandchildren, Gregory Russell, Sr., Alyssa (David) Grant, and Victoria (Jon) Hall; great grandchildren, Brayden Grant, Carter Grant, Addison Grant, Kayden Hall, Emma Hall and Gregory Russell, Jr.
A graveside service for Verna will take place on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Coral Ridge Cemetery; 1630 SW Pine Island Rd, Cape Coral, FL 33991.
