Michael left to join his baby boy, parents Dawson and Lillian (nee Still) Littlechief, and many relatives: brother Percy (in infancy), sisters Elizabeth Goodwill, Bernadette, and Margaret Yvonne, and half-sister Catherine Lonethunder; both sets of grandparents: Joseph and Caroline Still and John and Annie Littlechief; aunts Agnes Littlechief, Mrs. Lola Whitebear, Victoria Still, Agnes Still; uncles George Still, Michael Still, Peter Still, Solomon Still, Gordon Littlechief, Harvey Littlechief and Andrew Littlechief. Left to mourn his passing are his children: Marcel, David (Crystal), Kevin and Tara; his grandchildren Dawson and Hannah; adopted grandchildren Mackenzie, Audrey and Tamara; sister Jean Okimasis-Wolvengrey (Arok) and her daughter Lisa Reddekopp; uncles: David Littlechief (Marion), Edward Still (Barbara); aunts: Mary Lessing, Marion Still; niece Debra Murray (Lawrence) and their children: Sophie Carteri (Pasquale and their children Meika and Giuseppe), Dawn, Jennifer Fesciuc (Chris), and Patrick. Numerous cousins from the Littlechief and Still families also mourn our loss.
Michael was known for his work ethic and his concern for his fellow man. This empathy kept him busy and he tried to help the young people who came to him for information on traditional customs or even helping them with homework. For a number of years Michael was employed at a Youth Camp near Kenosee Lake. An accomplished artist, he kept himself busy with painting, carving on antlers and sculpting ceremonial stone pipes. Even with such a hectic schedule he found time to visit with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank his coworkers in the Surveillance Department at the Bear Claw Casino for the support they gave Michael during his illness.
A wake will be held at the White Bear Community Hall at 5 pm on August 4, 2011. A Funeral Service will be held August 5, 2011 at this same facility with Interment to follow at the Dawson Cemetery. (The family requests that no young children attend.) In lieu of flowers, donations in Michaelís memory may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre at the Pasqua Hospital.
Arrangements under the direction of Orsted-Carlyle Funeral Home, Carlyle, SK.
