
Samuel Joseph Standing Ready (Warrior Chief) was born in Valentine, Nebraska on September 30, 1995 to Annisa Bordeaux and Corey Standing Ready. Samual passed away near Valentine, Nebraska on Friday, October 1, 2010 one day after his 15th birthday.
Sam was a sophomore at Valentine High School. He loved to play basketball. He was a caring son and brother as well as a loving grandson. Samuel made friends easily and always had a smile and a cheeky comment for those he loved.
Sam was predeceased by his grandparents, Laura Big Eagle, Lenard Lerat. His aunt, Lydia Lonethunder.
Sam is survived by his grandparents, Carol Standingready and Lloyd Fayant; Bernadette Bordeaux and Melvin Tim Whitebird II. His mother, Annisa Bordeaux of Valentine; His father, Corey Standing Ready of Ocean Man First Nation, Saskatchewan. Brothers, Donovan Standingready of Birdtail, Manitoba; Cante Standing Ready of Ocean Man First Nation; Corbin Standing Ready of Valentine, Nebraska; Tanner Two Strike of Valentine, Nebraska; Sister, Torrie Ann Burns of Ocean Man First Nation. Uncles, Melvin Whitebird Jr., Dustin Whitebird, Conway Standingready, Courtney Standingready, Jake Big Eagle, Clint Big Eagle, Jason Littlechief, Lindsay Littlechief, Crawford Lonechild, Jeff (Josh) Kakakaway, Wallace Haywahe, Jody Lonethunder, Joseph Stupnikoff, Norman Chatkana, Luke McArthur, Amos McArthur, Terry McArthur, Calvin McArthur, Brian McArthur. A visitation was held Monday, October 4th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and a prayer service was held at 9:00 a.m.Tuesday, October 5th from Holmes Funeral Home, Valentine, Nebraska. Wake service was held the evening of October 5th from Digman Hall, St. Francis, South Dakota.
A Wake service was held Thursday, October 7th followed by a Traditional Funeral Service on Friday, October 8th from the Ocean Man Band Hall, Ocean Man First Nation, Saskatchewan. Interment followed in the Ocean Man Cemetery.
