

Barbara Jeanette Moody, age 85, of Carmel, Indiana, and formerly of Heath, Ohio, passed away on March 3, 2026. She was born on May 28,1940 in Newark, Ohio to the late Charles and Helen (Hanby) Sears. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Moody and her sister, Donna (Sears) Garven.
Barbara is survived by her son, Kelley (Patty) Queen, of Riverview, Florida; her daughter, Crystal (Jay) Wagner, of Carmel, Indiana; and her cherished grandchildren: Tyler (Stacey) Queen, Taylor (Brad) Queen, Harrison (Jennifer) Wagner, Pierce (Rachel) Wagner, and Camdyn Wagner. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters, Kahlan Queen and Amelia Queen, as well as her brother, Terry Sears. Barbara’s family meant everything to her, and she was the heart of her family. Her love and generosity touched all those around her.
Barbara was a devoted friend to many and deeply valued the friendships she built throughout her life. From cousins she called friends, to the lifelong bonds formed over the years, Barbara was a true and loyal confidante. She treasured the time spent with her card and book clubs, lunch groups, exercise companions, the "bank ladies," work friends, travel partners, church, volunteer, shopping, concert and dinner groups, telephone friends, and neighbors. Her days were filled with laughter, love, and quick wit. Those fortunate enough to share her friendship will remember her kindness, humor, strength, generosity, and unwavering love.
A graveside service will be held at Newark Memorial Gardens, located within Wilson Cemetery at 4244 Marion Rd. NE, Newark, OH 43055 at a later date.
