Donald James Gaertner, 77, passed away peacefully on April, 17, 2024 in Westfield, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 11, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, and throughout his life, he called many places home, including Mount Prospect, IL, Kingston, NC, Terre Haute, IN, Carmel, IN, Lafayette, IN, Fort Wayne, IN, Bonita Springs, FL, Crystal River, FL, and Westfield, IN.
Donald began his career as a salesman for TRW and demonstrated exceptional drive and determination, eventually establishing his own successful business. His leadership skills led him to become CEO of several corporate companies, leaving a lasting impact on the business world.
Donald cherished time spent with his family and created countless treasured memories on vacations together. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen Gaertner, his loving daughters, Gretchen Sasser (Brian) and Kristen Maslak (Joe), his adoring grandchildren, Maxwell Martin (Jessica), Alexander Martin (Jacquelin), and Samuel Martin, and his great-grandchildren, Harmoni, Lillian, and Scarlett.
Donald will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his remarkable career achievements, and his zest for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 4-8 pm at Leppert Mortuary-Carmel Chapel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, IN and a funeral mass to celebrate Donald's life will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oakridge Rd., Carmel, IN at 11 am.
