 Obituario de Elaine Oakley
Elaine Marie Oakley (Siurek), 85, formerly of Highland and East Chicago, IN passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2020, at home at Wellbrooke of Westfield in Indiana. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years John B. Oakley, and is survived by her brother, Thomas Siurek (Mona) of Frankfort, IL, and four children Jon (Lori) of Sun Prairie, WI, Michael (Maureen) of Frederick, MD, Steven (Michele) of Westfield, IN, and Joseph (Michelle)of Schererville, IN. She also had six treasured grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, Dylan, Lauren, Nathan and Madeline. Elaine spent her life serving her community as a registered nurse and a precinct committee woman in Highland and attending 1000’s of sporting events in support of her children. She was a crazy Hoosiers fan and IU graduate, which was complicated by the fact that her husband was a three sport athlete at Iowa. She was delighted when she finally had granddaughters, since she had four sons, and was finally able to share her love of dolls. The American Girl doll store is very appreciative of this as well. Both Dad and her loved attending IU football games, and capping off the weekend at Oakleys bistro, enjoying the specialties of their son Steve, especially the Stanley’s meatloaf named in honor of Elaine’s dad, Stanley Siurek. She was a great cook and her family benefitted from her love of cooking, especially her “famous” mushroom soup and cheesecake. Mom loved going to Florida and hanging out on the beach and enjoying cocktails at the Beachcomber restaurant. Elaine was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Highland, IN and worked for many years there as school nurse. The family will be holding a service to celebrate Elaine’s life at a future date when it is safe for her friends and family to attend. Memorial contributions can be made to the Share Foundation.
