James Edwin McCabe

James Edwin McCabe, 81, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024. Jim was born on May 27, 1942, in Danville, Illinois, to Edward and Florence McCabe, both of whom preceded him in death. James attended Williamsport High School; graduated from Wabash College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964; from the Valparaiso School of Law in 1967; and received a Masters of Law from the University of London in 1968. Jim was a good and caring man who loved his family dearly. Always quick with a joke or humorous story, Jim took pleasure in making others laugh. Jim was also a very generous man who always sought to do everything he could to bring those around him joy. Jim had a love of history and spending afternoons fishing. As a professional, Jim was a practicing attorney for over 50 years, including serving as the Prosecutor for Warren County. In private practice, Jim took great pride in serving the residents of Warren County and surrounding areas. Jim’s father, grandfather, and great-grandfather preceded him as attorneys in Warren County and the law firm of McCabe & McCabe was in business for over 150 years. Jim is survived by his wife Cynthia, son Ross (Taylor), daughter Kimberly (William), and his nephews Michael Brown (Theresa), David Brown (Sheri), and Ryan Poor (Erin), and many other relatives. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister Julia Poor (David) and nephew Scott Brown (Jacqueline). Jim’s family would like to thank the wonderful hospice professionals with Paradigm Health and Life’s Journey Hospice for their tactful and professional care. To celebrate Jim’s life, the family invites any who knew him to a celebration of life to be held at the Williamsport Christian Church located at 20 E. 3rd. St., Williamsport, Indiana 47933 on April 11, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
