Janet J. Galanis

92, of Westfield, Indiana departed this life on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. She was born September 4, 1933 to the late Henry & Isabelle (Snyder) Nolan in Chicago, Illinois where she grew up and attended school. On December 18, 1953, she married George Galanis in Chicago.

Janet was dedicated to her faith and family. She moved to Carmel in 1999 with her husband following his retirement from American Airlines. Their travels over the years included many trips to Janet’s favorite destination, Hawaii. Later trips included George’s Naval reunions at various sites as well as winters near their grandchildren in Sun City Center, Florida.

Janet loved bargain hunting—her favorite hobby was spending time browsing for treasures at thrift shops, garage sales and antique stores! She cherished the many wonderful relationships at College Park Church; in particular, the friendships she made there with their widow’s group after George’s passing. In later years Janet treasured the friends she made with residents and staff at Copper Trace Senior Living.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, George Galanis; beloved dear son, Robert Galanis and dear brother, Robert Nolan.

Janet is survived by her son, William (Linda) Galanis; grandchildren, Daniel (Sheila) Galanis, Christina Galanis & Angel Galanis; daughter-in-law, Ellen Galanis.

Family and friends will gather at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 23rd at Leppert Mortuary - Carmel Chapel followed by graveside services at Carmel Cemetery, 1000 N. Rangeline Road in Carmel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Janet’s name to College Park Church at 2606 W 96th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.
