 Obituario de Jeanette Mae Layton
Jeanette M. Layton, loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother passed away Tuesday, December 15, at the age of 72. Jeanette was born April 14, 1948 in Wakarusa, Indiana. She was the oldest daughter of Kenneth and Maxine (Sauer) Harter. Jeanette graduated from LaVille High School and then attended Ball State University. On November 6, 1971, she married Jonathan Layton of Anderson, Indiana, and they were married for more than 49 years. She worked her entire career at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. As a Business Specialist, she took great pride in her work and being assigned those cases and claims that were the toughest to figure out. After a career lasting more than 40 years, she retired in 2016 to care for her newborn grandchildren. Jeanette loved to garden and could usually be found outside digging in the dirt. She often carried a shovel and gloves around in her car, just in case there was some planting that needed to be done. Jeanette was also an avid crocheter, and many people that she loved have handmade blankets in their homes, courtesy of Jeanette. She loved IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts and spent many nights and Sundays watching their games. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Jon, daughter Stephanie (Eric) Kendall, son Christopher, grandchildren Maxwell and Lily, her brother Dean, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenny, mother Maxine, and sister Irene. There will be no visitation or service. The family plans a private memorial in her favorite place, Sanibel, Florida, sometime next summer. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jeanette may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org/indiana/donate.
