

81, of Bargersville, formerly of Pendleton and Indianapolis, departed this life on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 21, 1943 and soon moved to Carmel, Indiana where her family farmed at 146th street and Gray Road. Joyce was a 1961 graduate of Carmel High School.
On June 3, 1962 she married Albert Bracken at the White Chapel Church in Carmel. She had worked as a secretary for RCA, Principal Financial, Tampa Electric Company and most recently for MacDougall Pierce Construction.
Joyce was a kind and gentle person who always put her family first and foremost in her life. Having grown up on the family farm, she was an accomplished gardener and loved all things outdoors. She loved to travel and experience different cultures and cuisines and rarely passed on an opportunity to relax with a good book.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Albert Bracken in 1968, her parents and one brother.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Laurie) Bracken and Robert Stephen (Tina) Bracken; daughter, Camey Williams; three grandchildren, Cheyenne (Alex Gaddis) Bracken, Chanse Dietz and Andrew (Lexi) Bracken; three great-grandchildren; five sisters; three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Joyce will begin at 11:00am on Monday, April 28th at Leppert Mortuary – Carmel Chapel followed by funeral services at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Carmel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Joyce are suggested to Alzheimer's Association.
The family wishes to express it's gratitude to the staff in the Advanced Care Unit at Otterbein for the loving care provided to Joyce and where she was cherished by many.
