Leigh Anderson, 80, of Westfield, IN passed away April 18, 2021. Leigh was born February 7, 1941 in Chicago, IL. He was raised in Cary, IL. Leigh graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1959. He attended Elgin Community College and Northern Illinois University graduating with a degree in Business Marketing in 1965. After a year of sales with Prudential Insurance, Leigh served in the Army where he became a finance specialist spending most of the time at Ft. Leonard Wood, KY. It was in the Army that he became a lifelong cigar smoker. After the military Leigh started working for UARCO Business Forms. He spent 29 years moving from sales, to sales manager, and then Regional Manager. The years involved in sales in Elmhurst, IL, management in Rockford, IL and finally to Indianapolis from 1974-1998 when he retired. He loved his job and his staff. Leigh met Jean Schmitz in 1959 in high school. They were married August 31, 1963 in Fox River Grove, IL. They had two married sons (Jeff and Renee Anderson of Carmel, IN and Steve and Doris Anderson of Brownsburg, IN) and six grandchildren (Jack, Kate, Cooper, Grant, Rachel, and Brooke). Leigh loved raising the boys and coaching their sports. His interests were home and family and his personal sports of baseball, hockey and golf. He loved smoking his cigars, traveling, and seeing family and friends. Besides his widow Jean and the sons and families Leigh is survived by his sister Linda Allison of Pleasanton, CA and Brother "Reg" George Anderson of Cary, IL. Leigh was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Larson Makemson and step-father George Makemson. There will be a memorial service at Leppert Mortuary Carmel Chapel on Saturday, April 24th at 2:30pm with calling prior from 1:00pm to the time of service. Internment will follow at Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana, 5050 E. 211th Street, Noblesville, IN 46062.
