 Obituario de Margaret "Pegeen" Comerford
Margaret Mary (Pegeen) Comerford, 74, of Carmel, IN, passed peacefully at home on September 20, 2019. Pegeen was born in Brooklyn, NY, on January 1, 1945, to William Valentine and Margaret Mary (Fontaine) Norris. The family moved to Tottenville on Staten Island, NY, when she was eight years old. After she graduated from St. Peter's High School in Brooklyn, Pegeen entered the religious order, The Missionary Servants of the Blessed Trinity. Throughout her seven years of service, she was stationed in Philadelphia, Alabama, and Connecticut. Pegeen was a devout Catholic, and spirituality was a fundamental part of her life. On January 13, 1972, Pegeen married the love of her life, Jim Comerford. They had a long and inspiring love story. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Holy Family University in 1970, and she took graduate courses from Temple University. She retired from Aspire Indiana in 2014. Pegeen was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister, daughter, and friend. She was known to all for her kind and loving spirit. Many have described her as “pure love.” She valued family above all and especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren. Nana, as she was called by her grandchildren, delighted in gardening and cooking with the grands and the conversations it would spark. She was each child’s biggest fan and rejoiced in every one of their accomplishments, both big and small. She attended all of the sporting events and activities of her children and later her grandchildren. She was also the family director of photography and made sure that Papa (her husband, Jim) captured all the special moments and significant events. No detail was too small to celebrate. She was deeply committed to community service throughout her life. Over the years in Indiana, Pegeen was involved in several charity activities at St. Luke Parish and then at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Volunteering at the food pantry was particularly dear to her heart in her later years. Preceded by her loving parents William and Margaret Norris; survived by devoted husband Jim Comerford, her children: Jim (Nicole Woods), Katheen (Matt Barnett), and John (Erica) Comerford, her grandchildren: Ella and Finnian Comerford-Barnett and Melanie, Deklan, Jillian, and Joseph Comerford and her siblings: Julie Laurenzi, Billy, Tim, David, John, and Paul Norris. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM, at St.Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46033. In lieu of flowers, Pegeen’s family requests contributions to the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity at WWW.MSBT.ORG or at 3501 Solly Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136.
