Mary Elizabeth Gooch Campbell met her Lord on December 24, 2020 at age 93. She was born March 2, 1927 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Loren and Leta Kiely. She graduated from Evansville Central High School, Locklear’s Business College and the University of Evansville. Mary loved Evansville and lived there all but the last few years of her life. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She married Walter Gooch in 1947 and they are survived by three children, Beth Snyder of Noblesville, IN, Geoff (Joan) Gooch of Carmel, IN and Robin Norris of Kiawah Island, SC. Mary is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Craig (Abbie) Thiel, Chad (Maki) Thiel, Jordan Snyder, Josh Snyder, Courtney (Bill) Gooch Beyers, Kiley (Mike) Gooch Hewson, Kelsey (Chad) Norris and Reid (Megan) Norris as well as ten great-grandchildren and a host of dear friends. Mary was a very selfless, kind and giving person. She enjoyed working at the University of Evansville for over 30 years. She was active in Tri Kappa and the Officer’s Wives Club. She loved spending time with her family, working out and playing Bridge. Mary was also a woman of strong Christian faith and was a member of several churches during her lifetime. Mary’s first husband, Walter, passed away in 1981 and she then married Dale Campbell in 1985. They were married until Dale’s death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Phil Kiely, Louise Owen and Jim Kiely. Mary’s family is most appreciative of the wonderful care she received at the Bickford of Carmel and from Transitions Hospice. A graveside service for Mary will begin at 9:00 am CST on Tuesday, December 29th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville. Masks are required and social distancing exercised please.
