She moved to Farmland, Ind., in the late 1930s, when her father bought the drug store and operated it for many years. She graduated from Farmland High School, then attended Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio, and graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
In September 1955 she married George K. Toombs of Indianapolis. They lived in Ardmore, Okla.; Indianapolis; Lima, Ohio; Fort Wayne and Carmel over the years. George preceded her in death in 2008.
Nancy was active in community, school and church work. She was a long-time member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. She volunteered for many years at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital.
Survivors include three children, James R. Toombs (wife Lori Williams) of Carmel; Carol Vincent (husband Robert) of San Leandro, Calif., and Susan Blanchard (husband Mark) of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Chasity, Kylie, Nick, Leo, Megan, Mitchell and Ryan; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Orchard Park Presbyterian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orchard Park church. Arrangements were made by Leppert Mortuaries - Carmel.
