Ralph Lewis

92, of Carmel, Indiana departed this life Friday, July 26, 2019. He was born August 13, 1926 in Sparland, Illinois to the late Lester Doyle and Zella Kimble Lewis. He was a graduate of Roosevelt College and Garrett Theological Seminary in Chicago. He married Betty Ruth Vance in 1947 and they moved from Evanston, Illinois to South Bend, Indiana in 1953, where Ralph worked in sales management for Uniroyal’s Ball Band plant for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, Indiana and Carmel United Methodist Church, and enjoyed golfing and traveling to see family and friends.

Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Ruth Vance Lewis in 2006.

He is survived by his sister, Martha Lammers of Pleasant Hill, Tennessee, his brother, Robert (Janice) Lewis of Bloomington, Illinois, his devoted children, Cynthia Lewis Doxtater of Carmel, Indiana, and Alan (Debby) Lewis of Ashland, Kentucky; dear grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Lewis of Wilmington, Delaware, Kimberly (Andrew) Reed of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Trudy Doxtater of Indianapolis, Indiana, Terri Doxtater of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tracie (Brian) Newgent of Carmel, Indiana, Tony Doxtater of Portland, Oregon, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been completed, and a memorial service will be announced and held in August.
