69, of Indianapolis, departed this life Thursday, February 17, 2022 in Westfield. Ruth was born May 11, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Vernon Hale and Sarah Jane (Justice) Sweeney.
Ruth was a kind and gentle soul who had earned her teaching degree from Peabody College and had worked as a teacher in Houston and Indianapolis Public Schools. She had also served as a volunteer paramedic and CPR instructor. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield.
Ruth is survived by her devoted son, Joe (Erin) Hopkins; grateful grandchildren, Caden and Alayna Hopkins; dear sister, Mary Ellen (Raymond) Lewis and her former husband John Hopkins.

A visitation for Ruth will begin at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 1st at Leppert Mortuary -Smith Carmel Chapel and conclude at time of services beginning at 1:00 pm.
