

Alfred J. Avellino, 72, of Frisco, Texas, passed away July 23, 2016. He was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Academically, Al attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Coal Township, Pennsylvania, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Bloomsburg State College in Pennsylvania and a Master of Science degree from Marywood College in Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Air Force in the years of 1961-1969, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant, and received an honorable discharge. Professionally, Al had a career in accounting and aviation for several companies and since retired.
Al’s passions were flying airplanes, playing golf and taking pictures of his travels, but his greatest passion was his time with his wife, Shere.
He is survived by his twin brother, Ronald T. Avellino, of Drums, Pa.; daughters, Alexa Segilia of Hazleton, Pa.; and Brenda Morotto of Bloomsburg Pa.; and goddaughter, Tiffanie Bentz of West Monroe, La. He is also survived by six grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by his father, Alfred P. Avellino; his mother, Helen T. Bubnis; and his wife, Sharon “Shere” Griner.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 S. Interstate 35E, Carrollton, Texas, with inurnment to follow at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas.
