

Bertie, as she was known to family and friends, was born December 2, 1936 in Joliet, Illinois to Erle and Ruth Pasold. She graduated from Academy High School in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1954 and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Bertie married her husband, Charles Weed, in 1964. In 1969, they relocated from Pennsylvania to Texas and lived more than 45 years in the North Dallas suburb of Carrollton. They have been residents in rural Gainesville for the past six years.
First and foremost Bertie was a child of God and a sincere woman of great faith. She embodied Christian virtues of charity, kindness, and generosity throughout her life and with everyone she met. Over the years Bertie was deeply involved with the Lutheran Church, both through employment as well as various outreach ministries. Bertie was a dedicated wife and mother who took great pride in her family and found happiness in taking care of others, especially infants. Her lifelong vocational dedication to child care began at the age of fifteen, ending with her retirement in 2014. Bertie's servant heart has impacted hundreds of families, with loving care for children as well as guidance and support for young parents.
Bertie is preceded in death by her brother, Bill Pasold. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Weed; son, Timothy Weed and his wife, Elizabeth of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Tricia Shotwell and her husband, Patrick of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Suzanne Peters and husband, Scott of Gainesville, Texas; granddaughters, Audrey Weed, Abigail Peters, and Katelyn Peters; and grandsons, Justin Weed, Tanner Shotwell, and Preston Shotwell.
