Betty was born in Comanche County on January 1, 1940, to Abnr Lee and Theone Loudermilk. She graduated from Comanche High School. On August 7, 1959, Betty married her devoted husband, Frank Pope Jr.; they shared a beautiful life of 66 years together.
Professionally, Betty served as a church secretary for several congregations, worked for the Bonneau Company, and was a spirited entrepreneur. However, Betty was most defined by her unwavering love for Jesus. A "saint and a legend" to those who knew her, she was a pillar of faith and a mentor to many. She was known for a "kind yet bold" spirit and a heart of hospitality that turned strangers into family. Whether she was teaching a friend how to win at "42", cheering at a baseball game, or inviting a young woman to Women In The Word, Betty's life was a living testimony of grace and encouragement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abner Lee and Theone Loudermilk. She is survived by her husband, Frank Pope Jr.; her sons, Mark (wife Kay) and Mike (wife Charlotte); and her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren: Rebekah Pitts (husband Jaron), with Makayla and Brynley; Aimee Smith (husband Eric) with Zane, Emmeline, Henry, and Ike; Amanda Masarro (husband Danny) with Adalynn, Hadley, and Ashton; Jeff Pope (wife Lynette) with Hayden, Presley, Oliver, and Ridge; Andrew Pope (fiancee Julia); Chelsea Hopkins (husband Shane) with Jackson, Harrison, Preston and Lottie; and Chase Pope (wife Ashley) with Eddie, Ollie, and Millie.
