Bobby Ray Hinton, age 83, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda, his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Terry Miller, his granddaughter, Rachel Evans, and his grandson-in-law, Blake Miller & wife Erin. He is joining his daughter, Lisa, and his son-in-law, David Evans, in heaven.
Bobby's life was devoted to serving his family, community, and country. After returning from the Korean War with his Air Force unit, he began his 30-year career at the US Postal Service. He started as a mail carrier and worked his way up to manager. Bobby was also a leader in his church community, serving first Fyke Road Baptist Church and later Royal Haven Baptist Church as a deacon for close to three decades.
He will be remembered for his love of gardening and arguing, as well as his incredibly generous heart. Bobby was known to contribute to dozens of charities and philanthropic organizations, including St. Jude's Research Hospital, Easter Seals, and the American Heart Association.
His family would like to send their sincerest thanks to the friends and family who supported him so closely in the final years of his life, as well as the caring staff of Faith Presbyterian Hospice – especially Tierra, Rhonda, Shanté, Jan, and Carolyn.
