

Carol Ruth Crawford Rawls was born on June 17, 1954 in Dallas, Texas, to loving parents Ray and Frankie Crawford and went to dance with Jesus on April 2, 2025. The theme of Carol’s entire life has been the amazing grace of Jesus and that hymn is her favorite.
Carol went through the Dallas public school system and met her best friend forever, Barbara Crosby Stout, in the 3rd grade. After graduating in 1972, Carol went on to East Texas State University in Commerce. She graduated later from UTA with a degree in Management Information Systems although she always dreamed about becoming a special education teacher. Carol worked for Merchants Bakery Supply in Farmers Branch making many friends among her coworkers and customers.
Carol’s parents met and married at First Baptist Church of Dallas and the family attended there during Carol’s childhood. She chose Jesus as her Savior and was baptized at the church. She was a member of first the Clarion Choir and then the Chapel Choir and got to go on a choir tour to Vancouver, B.C. She was still in touch with many friends she made during her years at First Baptist Dallas and Facebook allowed her follow their lives.
Carol married Reid Rawls in 1976 and had two children from that marriage, Clarice Ann Taylor and Ricky Rawls. Carol always loved people and getting to be with others was especially important to her. She and Ricky became members of Brookhaven Church in about 2008 and continued attending Brookhaven when the church moved from Farmers Branch to McKinney. Carol and Ricky felt at home and loved and valued there.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Clarice Taylor and husband, Tim, of Eagle Pass, TX, and their children Cathleen Louise and husband Isaac Lopez Salazar, Jefferson, William, and Parker; and her son, Ricky. She is also survived by her sister, Gail Donaghey and husband Calvin, of Abilene, one nephew and many nieces and many great nieces and great nephews and wonderful cousins and their children and grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bruce, and sister, Donna.
Carol received excellent medical care at Medical City Dallas and end of life care at the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center and the family is very grateful for the caring attention Carol was shown at these facilities. Carol chose to be cremated and will be interred at a later date at the Newsom family cemetery in Azle, TX.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 2pm at Brookhaven Church located at 6101 Stacy Rd., McKinney TX, 75070.
