
Charlotte was born on November 28, 1942 in Republic, Mo., the middle child, and only daughter, of Alba and Mildred West. Her growing up years were spent on their small family farm outside Republic where she developed a strong work ethic to go along with her family values.
After high school graduation in 1960, Charlotte attended Southwest Baptist College for two years of business (secretarial) training that led her to a career at several churches and Christian colleges.
Charlotte loved choral music and sang with multiple church groups over the years. She also served a number of small churches as the song leader in addition to other volunteer roles.
Faith was always a major component of Charlotte’s life. A committed church family member, she was a devoted Bible student, a regular children’s and adult class teacher interspersed with numerous other volunteer services. Her final church home was as an active member here in Carrollton at First Baptist Church of the Fields.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, older brothers, and two husbands. She is survived by her brother, Larry West of Dubuque IA, her daughter, Dr. Ruth Schackmann of Carrollton TX, her six grandchildren: Harrison of Killeen TX, Hunter of Carrollton TX, Alexa Danielle of Ft. Worth TX, Evan and Hope of Arlington Tx, and two great grandchildren.
