

Doris was born on October 30, 1928, to CB Smith and Fronia Smith. She was born and raised in Carrollton, Texas.
She met and married her husband, Bryan Jones at the age of 16 while Bryan was stationed at Ft. Knox.
Doris worked as a housewife during her marriage to Bryan. They were married 47 years before Bryan’s passing in 1990.
Doris was an active member of the First United Methodist church in Carrollton and loved singing in the church’s annual Christmas Contada. Doris enjoyed reading her bible while listening to Christian music. The worn pages of Doris's bible are a testament to her love of scripture. Doris loved well and was a prayer warrior for many. She loved helping others and made friends easily. She had a great sense of humor and brought smiles and laughter among family and friends. To many Doris was known to have a generous heart and would often contribute to many charitable causes. At The Pearl Senior Living she had the responsibility of parking security making sure that everyone knew where to park in the facility parking lot and did not hesitate to let folks know when they were not obeying the rules. A job she thoroughly enjoyed doing!
Doris was a special woman that had a positive impact on many lives, as evidenced by the many personal connections that she kept active through the years by phone calls, cards and letters.
Doris is preceded in passing by her husband, Bryan Jones, father, CB Smith, mother, Fronia McCarter, daughter, Carol Shaffer, grandson, Scott Jones and daughter in law, Pat Jones.
Doris is survived by her sons Randall Jones and Doc Jones, son in law, Dr. Joe Shaffer. Doris is also survived by four grandchildren, grandson Brent Jones and wife Poppy Jones, granddaughter Lauren Gordon and husband Marty Gordon, granddaughter Kristy Dixon and husband Max Dixon, grandson Jacob Shaffer, eleven great grandchildren, along with many special nieces, nephews and friends.
A Visitation will begin on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 12pm - 1pm at Rhoton Funeral Home, Carrollton,Tx. The Funeral Service will commence at 1pm .
In lieu of flowers we ask that Doris’s charitable personality be honored by donating to Samaritan’s Purse or any charity of your choosing.
