Born October 4, 1914 Died March 27, 2012
Helen, known as Lollie to her family, passed away early Tuesday morning at the age of 97. Helen and her husband, Joseph R. Sullivan (Chicago), a WWII veteran, were proud members of the Greatest Generation. She was a native and life-long Texan, born in Sherman, and lived for almost 90 years in Dallas. Her last two years were spent in Austin where she was a resident of Englewood Estates Retirement Community.
She lived a full life, and over the years loved traveling with her husband and her friends. She was a lifelong member of Catholic Daughters of America. After retiring from Firestone/Bridgestone and then Arco, she volunteered at Brookhaven Hospital in Dallas for about 35 years and was very proud of her volunteer awards and the network of friends she built during those years.
Lollie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Joe; her parents Helen Ratcliffe and Fred Hall Brown (Dallas); her sister Nancy Brown Dunn (Katy); her brothers Hall Brown (Dallas) and Robert Brown (College Station); her nephew Steven Brown (College Station) and her niece Mary Anne Dunn (Dallas). Lollie is survived by her nieces Joanne (Rodney) Dunn Edge (Austin) and Judy Brown (Jim) Kramb (Dallas); nephews, Joe (Gayle) Dunn (Richmond), Bob Dunn (Houston), Mike (Debbie) Dunn and Bill Dunn (Katy) and many great-nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held at Rhoton Funeral Home on Friday evening, March 30, at 6 p.m. with visitation continuing until 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the North Chapel of the Calvary Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Entombment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory of Houston, Ms. Bee Dickson, 6700 Mount Carmel Drive, Houston, TX 77087; Boys and Girls Country, Hockley TX (boysandgirlscountry.org); or Catholic Daughters of America.
