James Caleb Thomas, 22, passed away on February 8, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on August 7, 2003, in Irving, Texas, to Timothy Lee Thomas and Anissa Marie Thomas. James was raised in Irving and graduated from Ranchview High School in 2021.
James was enrolled at Universal Technical Institute in the Airframe and Powerplant Aviation program, pursuing a future that reflected his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. He was posthumously honored by the Campus President with a certified Certificate of Attendance in recognition of his dedication and commitment.
James was hardworking, strong and deeply determined. When he set his mind to something, he gave it his full effort. He took pride in responsibility and was stepping confidently into manhood with maturity beyond his years. Those who worked alongside him respected his reliability, discipline, and leadership.
Alongside his strength lived a remarkable tenderness. James was caring, protective, and deeply loyal to the people he loved. His heart was gentle. He valued connection, affection and presence. With his loving partner, Vanessa, and their six cats, he built a life filled with warmth and laughter. They recently traveled to the beaches of Florida and the mountains of Tennessee and were looking forward to many more adventures together.
James found freedom on his motorcycle, spending hours on long rides – sometimes alone, sometimes alongside new friends he met through his love of riding. He was also an avid gamer, playing with friends he met online, his best friends and family. He would talk for hours into the night, his rich voice heard throughout the house. He loved all kinds of music—from every genre and every decade—and found the magic in all of it. There was almost always a song playing, usually loud, because music was a part of who he was.
He will be remembered for his handsome smile and the warmth it brought. The deep love he showed through his loyalty and humor. The impact James left on our lives cannot be measured by time, but by the depth of love and connection he gave. He had a true heart of gold and influenced many people around him. James will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those blessed enough to know his spirit.
He is survived by his father, Timothy Lee Thomas; his mother, Anissa Marie Thomas; his siblings, Timothy Lee Thomas II, Olivia Jade Thomas, Timothy Lee Thomas Jr.; his niece, Harley-Rose Thomas; and his partner, Vanessa Rodriguez.
