

John Carl Fabela, a kind-hearted and selfless man, passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on December 2, 1958, in Toluca, México, John was raised in Rochester, New York, where he cultivated the hard-working and faithful traits that defined his life.
John worked as the dedicated Director of Facilities for Methodist Hospital for Surgery. He had 16 years of loyal service to the institution. As one of the original four employees hired at the hospital's opening, John's commitment was instrumental in the hospital's early success. He will be remembered for his work ethic and the lasting friendships he made.
John had a passion for cars, spending much of his free time working on his in the garage. He would always look for the next one to buy and fix up. This was something his son, John Jr, and he shared. He also loved military planes, particularly the F-14 Tomcat. Known for his craftsmanship, John would always fix things himself around the house.
A great mentor to many, John extended his guidance from the workplace into his family life. He was immensely proud of his family, often mentoring them to become successful in their respective careers. Above all, John found his greatest joy as a proud grandpa to his precious grandchildren who often made him laugh and giggle. He was a friendly soul who never met a stranger and would go out of his way for family and friends, leaving a legacy of warmth and generosity.
John is survived by his beloved mother, Rosa Fabela; his sons, John Fabela Jr. (Jillian Fabela) and Jason Fabela (Wendy Fabela); grandchildren, Joliette, Cameron, and Emma Fabela; wife and mother of his children, Barbara Fabela; his longtime partner, April Crandall; sister-in-law, Gloria Fabela and nephew Edward Fabela Jr. (Dee and son Elijah Fabela). He is predeceased by his father, Donaciano Fabela; his brother, Edward Fabela; and his nephew, Ritchie Fabela.
John will deeply be missed by his family, countless friends and esteemed colleagues.
