Rayburn "Rae" Hancock Britain

Rayburn “Rae” Britain passed away peacefully at her Carrollton home on April 26, 2014. She was born January 17, 1919, in Fred, TX. Prior to becoming a wife and partner in life and business with her husband A.W. Britain, who preceded her in death in 1995, she worked as a bookkeeper for Sears and Roebuck in Dallas. She was loved by family and friends in Texas and Colorado. She was a devoted member of Valley View Christian Church and the Prime Timers Bible Study Class with whom she enjoyed worship, travel, and social activities. During annual stays at the Britain’s Colorado ranch, Rae loved hosting family and friends. She attended Creede Baptist Church and supported their missions and programs. She is survived by her sons, J.C. Fishbeck of Playa del Rey, CA; Howard Britain and wife Lynda of Tyler, TX; and daughter Ruth Ann Whitecotton of Weatherford, TX. ; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 6pm until 8pm at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton. Services will be held at 10am, Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Valley View Christian Church, 17601 Marsh Ln, Dallas, TX 75287. Burial will follow at 1:30pm at Five Mile Cemetery, 3727 Kiest Blvd. Dallas, TX. Arrangements under the direction of Rhoton Funeral Home, Carrollton, TX.
