Richard Witherspoon

WITHERSPOON, Rick passed away August 22, 2015. Rick is survived by his longtime partner, Evelyn, stepdaughter Chris Zakrajsek, stepsons Scott and Shad Sherwood, granddaughter Della Alderson, grandsons Will and Nick Sherwood, brothers Larry and Kim, sisters Janie Lanier and Mary Kay Greene and numerous nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Geneva Witherspoon, son Merrick and stepson Jim Zakrajsek. Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1943 Rick led an active, outgoing life. Rick joined the Army after high school graduation, serving in Korea and Japan. Rick found his career in the food service industry working over 35 years for the company which was at times, Merico, Campbell-Taggart, Anheuser Busch, Earth Grains, and Sara Lee. Rick spent his last five years at SaraLee in Paris, France as CEO of a SaraLee subsidiary, EuroDough. In retirement Rick was an avid golfer and loved living a life of service with his Masonic brothers and volunteering at the Texas Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. A memorial service will be held 1pm Friday, August 28th at Dallas Scottish Rite Temple, 500 S Harwood St, Dallas, Texas 75201.
