Roger Albert Thorington

Roger Albert Thorington, 79, died on October 31, 2012. He was born 17 October 1934 in Hobart, New York to Martha J. Castle and Chester G. Thorington, Sr. He grew up in Delaware County and joined the United States Army in the 1960's. Among locations where he was stationed, he saw duty in Korea and Germany where he met and married his first wife Lilia. They had three children, David Roger who died in Chicago, Illinois in 1979, Myrtle Rose Thorington who had four children and June Ann Spangler.

Roger liked to move around a lot and during one of these moves, he met and married Vivian Seekings. Vivian had five children, Robert, Sharon, Joe, Thomas and Gilbert.

Roger retired after 20 plus years serving his country in the United States Army. He and Vivian then settled in Lewisville, Texas.

In addition to his children and step-children, Roger is survived by one sister Joan Oakly of Creswell, Oregon, a few aunts and uncles, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and six grandchildren. In addition to his son David, he was preceded in death by his wife Vivian,

and by brothers, John and Chester, Jr., his parents and his sisters,Virginia Mandato and Myrtle Thorington.

Visitation will be at 6-8 pm Monday, November 5th at Rhoton Funeral Home where services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday with burial to follow with fulll mititary honors at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemeter.
