Velma Jeane Wood Witcher

June 29, 1925-January 3, 2011

Passed away January 3, 2011. She was the youngest of eleven children, born on June 29, 1925 to George Wood and Julia Yates in Slater, Missouri. She married Floyd Craig (Jack) Witcher on December 3, 1949. The couple had one daughter, Lora Sue, in Missouri before settling in Dallas, Texas, where they had their second daughter, Jacqueline Dee. Jeane was an active member of First Christian Church of Carrollton, where she was Elder Emeritus and served as Past Board President and was a member of the choir. She loved to sew, read, and was an avid Rangers fan, who never missed a game, even if it meant listening to it on her radio.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Craig (Jack) Witcher and infant daughter Barbara. She is survived by daughters Lora and Jackie and their husbands, Larry Featherston and Keith Boatright; grandson Larry Featherston, Jr and his wife, Jennifer, granddaughter Lacey Featherston; great grandchildren Caleb, Mallory, Cain, Bogard, and Jackson, and niece Norma Jeane and her husband, Charles Ferguson. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 6th at Rhoton Funeral Home. A memorial will be held at First Christian Church of Carrollton on January 6, 2011 at 10:00 am, with a grave side service to be held at Restland Cemetery at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Carrollton Memorial Fund.
