

Edward Carroll Braz Jr., was born on September 27th, 1961 in San Jose, California to Edward and Fran Braz Sr. He attended Pioneer High school where he was an active member of the 4-H club and loved to play baseball. He also enjoyed participating in recreational co-ed softball. Along his journey growing up, he met some of his lifelong best friends Frank and Susan Dutra, Duane and Marjorie Harris, Mark Keyes, and Donnie. Ed was always interested in the Criminal Justice System. He earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at San Jose City College. After graduation, he went on to pursue his lifelong dream of being a Police Officer. He served the San Jose Police Department and Alpine County Sheriff’s Office for over 20 years, where he was awarded and recognized by the community on numerous occasions. Edward continued his friendships with Frank and Susan, Duane and Marjorie, and got closer to Steve and Diane, Rich and Mary and all of his buddies down at the Alpine County Police Department. He retired from the Alpine Sheriff’s Office in 2010.
On November 7th, 1998, Edward married Michele (Braz) Benton (now divorced) in South Lake Tahoe, California. Together they had two resilient and incredible children named Madison and Connor, whom he loved more than life itself. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his children. Edward loved sports. If he wasn’t spending time with his kids, you could find him watching football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. Because of his love of sports and his children, he coached his son’s little league and high school baseball teams. He was an active volunteer at Sierra Lutheran High School, where he would also assist with coaching baseball.
Aside from sports, Ed had many hobbies in which he enjoyed. He was an outdoorsman and jack of all trades. He was an avid deer hunter and loved to fish. He loved traveling with family. Together they shared many family excursions such as Hawaii, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and the Florida Keys. Edward was a music lover. His instrument of choice was the drums. He also had a love for classic cars. One of his favorite things, was to collect and restore them. He was a man of great faith and an active member of the community through LifePoint Church. Over the span of 16 years as an active member of the church, Edward had participated in many committees and congregations. He was also a proud member and strong supporter of the Republican Party.
Edward is preceded in death by his Mother, Fran Pusateri Braz and his two Sisters, Cindy and Wendy. He is survived by his two children, Madison and Connor Braz; His father, Edward Carroll Braz Sr.; Korra the Pomeranian, and many friends whom he loved dearly.
His presence will be missed by many.
