He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon Hawkins; three beautiful daughters, Pracilla, Meghan and Nicole Hawkins; siblings, Debbie Campiotti, Nanci Fox, Brian Hawkins, Patti Gaskill, Sheryl Jardine, Debbie Couch, and Vicki Rockstead; aunt, Mary Studley; stepmother, Lorraine Hawkins; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends that were all very important to him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Faith Gaskill and father, Walter Lee Hawkins, Sr.
Born October 18, 1962, in Castro Valley, California, Walter lived in Livermore, California, before settling in Carson City, Nevada. Walter was a dedicated member of the Carson City community and owner of Carson Valley Tree Care. He was an amazing person, always quick to help everyone around him and always had a smile on his face. He had an undeniable passion for rock climbing and skydiving. He was the heart and soul of the Skydive Sacramento swoop pond. His dedication to keeping the pond full and well-maintained created a professional atmosphere, allowing it to serve as the location for the Skydive Sac Pro/Am 2015 Swoop Competition, a hugely successful event where high performance canopy pilots from across the country came to compete. He passed doing what he loved, and for this, we will give honor to a life most dubiously lived.
It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of this wonderful soul. Please join family and friends at a memorial and celebration of life for Walter at 11 am, Saturday, May 16, 2015, at FitzHenry’s Funeral Home, 3945 Fairview Dr., Carson City, Nevada.
