

He was born in Atlanta, GA, August 3, 1947 to Arthur Augustus Owens and Dorothy Reeves Owens.
Larry is preceded in death by parents Arthur and Dorothy Owens and sister Barbara Holbrook. He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Mary Richards Owens; daughter, Rebecca (Mike) Godbee, son, William Lawrence (Julie) Owens; grandchildren, Madison Godbee, Charlotte Godbee, Lula Owens; sisters, Kathy (Doug) Johnson, Becky Elliott; brother, Robert (Tami) Owens; several nieces and nephews.
Larry attended South Cobb High school, Shorter College, and went on to graduate from Mercer University Atlanta with a degree in pharmacy. Larry was the director of multiple pharmacies devoted to hospitalized and longterm acute care patients.
Larry loved flying, which he learned from his uncle and aunt, Lee and Eloise Gilmer, Gainesville, GA. He found joy in music, with his greatest love being piano music provided by his wife Mary. He enjoyed the opera and Atlanta Symphony concerts.
Family visitation will be 10-12noon, Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr, Cartersville, GA 30120
A graveside service with be conducted at Bartow Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetary, 2851 Hwy 140, Rydal, GA 30171, at 1 pm Wednesday, September 1 O, 2025. The chaplain of Affinis Hospice, Ruth Walker will officiate with Janice Bagley, RN of Affinis providing music.
Bill Owens, Mike Godbee, Seth Holbrook, Barney Thompson, Michael Kimbrel, and Billy Henson will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Administration and Nursing staff of Townsend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Affinis Hospice for the care, support, and love shown to Larry and his family.
