Arthur "Skip" Sweat

Skip was born on December 4, 1937 in Blairsville, GA, son of the late Arthur Sweat and Jesse Jones Sweat.

Skip proudly served his county in the Navy. After his service, he was a dedicated surveyor with the GA Department of Transportation for thirty-two years. In his spare time he absolutely loved playing golf and watching the GA Tech Yellow Jackets and Atlanta Braves. Anyone who knew Skip, knew they could find him eating breakfast every morning at the Waffle House on Moon St. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving wife of fifty-one years, Helen Sweat, his daughters and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Sweat; daughters, Tina Sweat of Cumming, GA, Trudy Woods of Cartersville and Tara Perkinson (Amos) of Cartersville; brother, Wally Sweat (Lanese) of PA; grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyler Woods, Aahlya , Vanessa, Noah and Jasaih Perkinson; great-grandson, Aiden Woods: nephews, Wyatt Sweat, Mark, Erick and Cory Leachman; niece, Meaghan Sotata

A Celebration of Life service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, August 28, 2015 in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Jones officiating.

Visitation will be held for two hours prior to service time at Owen Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
