Barbara Cantrell Payne

Mrs. Payne was born July 3, 1941 in Cobb County, a daughter of the late Herbert Cantrell and Mary Lois Johnson Cantrell.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Acworth and retired from Dennison Manufacturing where she worked in customer service. Barbara was very involved in the Carrie Dyer Women’s Club, the United Women’s Club and the Young at Hearts Club.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Johnny Payne, her children and their spouses, Keith and Karen Payne, of Acworth and Lori and Donnie Grier, of Oxford, Alabama, her grandchildren, Trinity Long and Kristen Long and Kaci Grier and Kyle Grier, her brother and sister in law, Dan and Jerri Cantrell, of Welford, South Carolina and her sister and brother in law, Joyce and Harry Thigpen, of Canton, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 8, 2011 from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Irwin and Rev. Don Maddox officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
