Blake Chapman

Blake was born July 17, 1959 in Cartersville, GA son of the late Johnny Chapman and Jane Taff Chapman.

Blake was a 1977 graduate of Cass High School. He later went to college to work towards a degree in counseling. He was of the Baptist faith and was also an ordained minister. He was a member of the rodeo circuit for several years and won several awards for roping. For the past 8 years, he was deeply committed to the No Longer Bound Ministry. In the last two years, he served as Program Director of the West Georgia campus of No Longer Bound, located in Breman, GA. Blake remained open and willing and teachable though out his short life. He was able to touch the lives of so many with the gift of unconditional love. He was a hero to many. He was the best daddy a little girl could ask for. Blake was larger than life and always wanted to have a good time. He brought everyone together through laughter and love. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Chapman.

Survivors include his mother, Jane Chapman of Cartersville; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman of Rome; brother and sister-in-law, Curt and Sarah Chapman of Cartersville; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and James Edwards of Rome; nephews, T.J. Ellenburg and James Paul Edwards; nieces, Stephanie Ellenburg and Mallie Chapman.

Memorial Services will be held 1:00 Pm, Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Althauser and and Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Interment will immediately follow from Raccoon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as active and honorary pallbearers are the men of No Longer Bound Ministry.

The family requests that people attending the Memorial Service wear orange attire in honor of Blake’s love of the Tennessee Volunteers.

In lieu of Flowers, the family requests contributions made to No Longer Bound Ministry, 60 Waco School Rd., Breman GA 30110.

The family will receive friends 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Saturday November 16, 2013 from the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home.
