David was a loving husband, dad, and granddad who truly enjoyed life’s simple moments—especially those spent with his family. He shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Mary Sheppard, and together they built a strong, loving family.
He was the proud father of Nike Sheppard, Melissa Abernathy (Allen), and John Sheppard, and an adoring grandfather to Nathaniel Abernathy, Madyson Abernathy, Mckenna Murry, and Grace Murry. Time with his children and grandchildren meant everything to him.
David loved being outdoors. Whether hiking or hunting, he found peace and happiness in nature. He worked for 28 years at Amrep/Zep, where he was known for his dedication and steady work ethic. He was also a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, which was an important part of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 13, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1689 Euharlee Rd, Kingston, GA 30145.
David will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
