

Cornelia "Connie" Lowry (née Bryson), 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, in Cartersville, Georgia. Born on August 21, 1930, in Cartersville, she was a lifelong resident of Bartow County, where she created a legacy of service, family, and community.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ethel Bryson; her husband, Albert Lowry; her son, Terry Lowry; and her two brothers, Dillard Bryson and Joe Bryson. Her memory lives on through her cherished family: her three grandchildren, Terry Lowry, Jr. and wife Tara of Carrollton, Carolyn Crawford (née Lowry) and husband Clay of Bowdon, and Paul Lowry and wife Kelly of Chicago. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Jerrie Garland; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Connie dedicated more than 35 years of her career to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as an office administrator at the Lake Allatoona Dam, proudly serving as the first female employee in that role. Her commitment to community extended beyond her professional life; she was an active member of both the Cartersville Pilot International Club and the Cartersville Christian Women’s Club, where she held various officer positions, including President.
A gifted musician, Connie's love for the piano resonated through the community. In the 1940s and 1950s, she played on numerous local radio programs, bringing joy and melody to listeners. She also shared her musical talents with local churches throughout Bartow County, enriching countless worship services with her music. She was also a member of New Beginnings Church, Cartersville, GA.
Connie also loved to travel. She and her husband, Albert, journeyed all over America, including a memorable trip to Hawaii. Her adventurous spirit continued throughout her life as she often traveled to hear her grandchildren perform in musical concerts, celebrating their accomplishments with pride.
Connie will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Garland officiating. Burial will follow at Center Batist Church Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Owen Funeral Home on the same day at 12:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Joel Garland, Jody Bryson, Rick Fair, Mike Fair, David Fair, and Jonathan Rummel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Beginnings Church in Connie's memory.
