

Curtis Donald Perry, 74, of Cartersville, passed away May 12, 2010. He was born June 5, 1935 in Mt. Carmel, IL. son of the late Oscar Andrew Perry and Ella Jane Baumgardner Marsh. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Emerson. For 38 years Curtis was a Sunday School Teacher from children’s church, R A Boy’s and serving on numerous committees. He loved serving the Lord, but his passion was Bible teaching, young and old alike. He also loved fishing, golf, motorcycles and traveling. He retired from Lockheed Federal Credit Union where he had worked for 28 years as CEO and President. He was preceded in death by a son Curtis, Jr. (Donny) Perry, brother, Robert Perry, and mother and father in law, Beatrice and Bradley Hendricks. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Shirley Hendricks Perry, 3 daughters, Bonnie Perry Harris (Clifton), of Manchester, TN., Becky Perry Higgins (Kelly), Murfreesboro, TN.and Jenny Williams Tonsmeire (Louis) , Cartersville, son, Douglas Ray Perry (Susan) , of Gatlinburg, 9 grandchildren, Rich Higgins, Jennifer Harris, Crocker, Samantha, Jillian and Zach Harris, Wendy Moore Benson (Paul) Robbie Moore, Sally Beth Perry Dooley, Burl Perry Dye, and 68 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Gladys Sahli, Cassopalis, Mich., Gertrude Hansen (Robert), South Bend, Ind., Dandy Meeks, Peru, Ind., Terry Cummings, Edgewood, Md., and Dawn Marsh, of Jacksonville, Fla., his brothers, Keith Perry (Brenda), Niles, Mi., Virgil Perry, (Carolyn), Niles, Mi., Jimmy Marsh (Lynn), Owensboro, Ky., brother and sister in law, Charles and Jean Hendricks, brother in law, Tommy Hendricks, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 14, 2010 from the First Baptist Church of Emerson with Rev. Larry Hibbert, Rev. Warner Smith and Rev. Greg Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hayes cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robby Moore, Rich Higgins, Zach Harris, Paul Benson, Johnny Cox and Russell Easton. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Beringgause, Larry Hardy, Lee Sneed, Ralph King, and Deacons of the church.The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 till 2:00 P.M. Friday.Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
