Mrs. Thomas was born on June 24, 1952 in Anniston, Alabama, the daughter
of the late Charles Coleman Bonds and Elizabeth Olene Dudley Bonds. She
moved to Blue Ridge, Georgia at an early age where her family had a long
history.
On July 11, 1970 she married William Benny Thomas.
Mrs. Thomas enjoyed her many years of employment at the Bartow County
District Attorney's Office and the Clerk of Superior Court, from where she
retired.
She enjoyed boating, camping, working in her yard, vacationing with her
family and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
Donna was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where her
husband Benny is the pastor. She was very active in many aspects of the
church including the Ladies Circle.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her father, Charles Bonds and her
beloved mother-in-law, Ruby Thomas. She is survived by her husband of 41
years, Benny, two daughters, Kellie Thomas Paige and her husband Steve and
their children, JD, Jacob, Luci and Audrey of Rydal and Kimberly Thomas
Nelson and her husband Dolph (Tripp) Nelson III and their children, Dolph
(Ivy) Nelson IV and Coleman of Cartersville. She is also survived by her
mother, Elizabeth Bonds of Anniston, Alabama, two sisters, Elaine Dilbeck of
Blue Ridge, Georgia and Jan Hillard of Dallas, Texas, a brother, Lincoln
Bonds of Anniston, Alabama and her father-in-law, JD Thomas of Blue
Ridge, Georgia. Also surviving are her extended family, Doug and Gwen
Wingard of Rydal and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Thursday, January 5 from 4p.m.-
8p.m. at Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville and funeral services will be on
Friday, January 6 at 2p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cartersville with
Reverend Robby Chastain and Reverend Billy Cantrell officiating. Burial will
follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with Reverend David Baker officiating.
Serving as Pallbearers are Adam Dilbeck, Scott Wingard, Brad Ross, Shane
McGill, Troy McVey and David Guthrie. Honorary Pallbearers include the
deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church and her grandsons.
