Doyle Ralph Sheffield

Mr. Sheffield was born August 2, 1935 in Calhoun, Louisiana, a son of the late John and Eleanor McDonald Sheffield.

A resident of Cartersville since 1968, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cartersville, where he had served as a trustee and the retired owner of Action Rent All, in Cartersville. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a past member of the Cartersville Lions Club. An avid golfer, Doyle was a member of the Cartersville Country Club, golfing there as a member of the “Bucket Group,” was past president of the Georgia Senior Golf Association and member of the Northwest Georgia Senior Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ann Hicks Sheffield, two sons and daughter in laws, Steve and Patty Sheffield, of Cartersville and Scott and Debbie Sheffield, also of Cartersville, one brother, Johnny Sheffield, of New Mexico, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 13, 2013 from the First Baptist Church of Cartersville, with Rev. Randall Williams and Rev. Doug Belisle officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Cartersville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Shannon and Chris Sheffield, Isaac Ball, Denny Abney, Steve Hall and Dan Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Floyd, Red Wilson, Charles Hurley, Walter Mahone, Melvin Housley and Harvey Knight.

The family will receive friend at the funeral home from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
