

Fredric Alan “Fred” Harris, Sr., age 91, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1934, in Cartersville, Georgia, to the late Frank G. Harris and Frances Morrow Harris.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia W. Harris; stepson, Tony Worthey; and daughter-in-law, Telica Worthey.
He attended Cartersville schools and furthered his education at the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee. Fred was co-owner of Harris Cement Products, Inc. and a respected real estate developer, known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his community.
A loving husband, father, and friend, Fred loved the Lord with all his heart and cherished his family deeply. He enjoyed golfing—especially with friends—and was an avid fan of UGA football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
Fred served faithfully for many years as a Methodist lay leader, couples Sunday School teacher, and Christian mentor to countless individuals. He also served as president of the Indian Springs Holiness Camp Meeting. Throughout his life, he was actively involved in the community as a member of the Cartersville and Bartow County Chambers of Commerce, the Cartersville Rotary Club, and the Cartersville Country Club. He was a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church and later Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Fred is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jo Ann Harris; his children, Tamara Deems (Danny), Fran Youmans (Steve), and Alan Harris (Leigh); bonus children, Lisa Dingler (Ronnie) and Ricky Worthey; siblings, former Georgia Governor Joe Frank Harris (Elizabeth) and Glenda Gambill (Bill); grandchildren, Carter Deems, Daniel Youmans, David Youmans, Katie Jones (Ben), Hillary Harris, Ashley Werner (Wes), Sydney Gonzales (Frankie), and Grant Harris (Megan); bonus grandchildren, Robbie Purser (Sarah), Meagan Satterfield (Dylan), Tyler Worthey (Taylor), Krista Payne, Austin Worthey, Jordan Worthey, and Carson Lockwood ; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, beginning at 12:30 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Purser, Carter Deems, Daniel Youmans, David Youmans, Tyler Worthey, and Grant Harris.
