Gary Barron, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud Christian Southern man, passed away surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Cartersville, he was deeply rooted in his community and cherished his alma mater, Cartersville High School, home of the Purple Hurricanes. He often spoke of his wonderful classmates and the lifelong friendships he built growing up.
From an early age, Gary had a need for speed, racing bicycles at just six years old before discovering his true passion—motorcycles. A fierce motocross competitor in his youth, he never lost his love for riding. Later in life, he found another passion in long-distance running, completing seven marathons and countless races, always pushing himself to go the extra mile. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved to hike.
A firm believer in the Golden Rule, he lived his life with kindness, generosity, and integrity. He built a successful career as the proud owner of One Day Sign, which he ran for nearly 30 years. His dedication and hard work were recognized when he won Small Business of the Year in 2001, an achievement he took great pride in.
Gary was proud to be from Georgia, grateful for his roots and the life he built. He was a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kay; his children, Adam (Hannah Barron) and Abby (Tom Murphy); and his cherished grandchildren, Levi and Jack. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley B Stegall; his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Dean Brown; his sisters-in-law and their spouses, Tara and Kevin Busse, and Tina and Bob Hobbs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert "Yogi" Barron.
His celebration of life will be led by his dear friend Mark Harris and his son, Adam Barron. Serving as pallbearers will be Pat Brown, Andy Womack, Barry Darnell, Rickey Woods, Chet Taylor, and Michael Ratcliff.
