James Richard Grooms

Cartersville, GA.

Mr. Grooms was born on January 7, 1943 in Biloxi Mississippi, son of the

late Roy F. and Sophie Grooms.

Jim was a Member of the First Baptist Church of Cartersville where he taught

Sunday School for many years. Jim was loved and will be missed by his family and Friends.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, L’Roy and Chuck Grooms; step-brother Robert Yancey.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Kathryn (Dawn) Hogan Grooms;

son, Jason Hogan Grooms of Sandy Springs, GA; sister-in-law, Joyce Grooms; step-brother, Eddie Yancey of Cartersville, GA.

A Celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, September 23, 2017 Cartersville First

Baptist Church at 1:00pm with Drew Startup officiating. Interment will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 in Walterboro, SC at Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be conducted for two hours prior to service time at the church.

Serving as pallbearers are Josh Brock, Bryan Moore, Randall Smith , Ron Argo, Jim Ballew and

Darrell Roberts.
