Mr. Matthews was born April 30, 1944 in McKaysville, Georgia, the son of the late, John Clinton and Clara Delona (Cook) Matthews, was retired from Georgia Power, loved outdoor sports and golf and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Paula Matthews, brothers and sisters, J.C. Matthews, Mary Jo Rhodes, Ernestine Matthews, Jack Matthews and Robert Matthews.
Surviving is his wife, Doris Matthews of Cartersville, children, Jimmy Matthews of Cartersville, Johnathon Matthews (Kathleen) of Acworth, grandchildren, Staci, Shannon, Cole and Rory, great grandchildren, Brady and Brianna, brother and sister in law, Doug and Louise Matthews of Cartersville, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clinton Green officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
