

He was preceded in death by both his parents, daughter Jean Askew (Lee) and Grandson Joseph Daniel Askew. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sue Tumlin, son Rusty Tumlin (Ginger), son in law Lee Askew, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
J.E. attend North Georgia College.
J.E. served his savior for several years as the song leader, a Sunday school teacher and other positions at Emerson Baptist Church. He served at Tabernacle Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher, numerous committee positions, deacon and treasurer. He taught one of the first televised Sunday school classes.
J.E. retired in 1988 as a computer program manager at Lockheed where he worked for 37 years.
J.E was a faithful and loving husband, father and paw paw. He will be missed by all that knew him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. John O. Yarbrough and Rev. Patrick Lathem officiating. The interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with John Askew, Jordan Tumlin, Daniel Tumlin, Aaron Smith, Rickey Roberts and Lamar Pinson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
