John Robert Turner

John Robert Turner, Age 91 – passed away on February 5, 2025, in Fairmount, GA. He was born on November 8, 1933, in Columbus, GA to the late Thomas Cosby and Thelma Taylor Turner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Joyce Shackelford Turner and by three sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Turner is survived by his sons, Robert M. Turner (Carol) and Randy Turner (Lisa); granddaughters, Katie Turner and Kallie Powis (Andrew); nieces, Jan Hurley and Carolyn Caldwell.

Mr. Turner grew up in Columbus and graduated from Jordan High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1953-1954. For over 40 years he worked for Moore Business Forms. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a member for over 50 years. Later in life he enjoyed researching and studying genealogy.

The Turner family would like to thank to staff of The Oaks st Fairmount for their special care and love that was always displayed to Mr. Turner.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, beginning at 2pm with a Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Turner at 3pm at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, GA 30120. He will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery with Naval Honors on Monday, February 24, 2025
