Johnny Duran Culberson, age 69, passed away on June 4, 2021 in Rome, Georgia. Johnny was born on January 30, 1952 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Lee Crowder and Jeanette Hopkins.

At a very young age, Johnny met Judy Cagle while in Elementary school. Eventually when they were in High School, they began dating. April 26, 1973 they became married and remained married for the next forty-eight years.

He began work for the railroad in 1973 and retired after nearly 40 years of dedicated service in 2012, but his job of an amazing provider to his family remained with him for the rest of his life.

Johnny was an avid reader and really enjoyed reading the Fox Fire book series. After reading this particular series, he was driven to build a family log cabin alongside of his loving wife, Judy Culberson. They put in hard work and many hours to build a cabin from the ground up, together. They often enjoyed spending quality family time outdoors. Johnny also had a one of a kind personality that always made people laugh. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Along with his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Crowder.

Johnny Culberson is survived by his wife, Judy Culberson; son, Brandon Culberson; daughter, Brianna (Jason) Barton; brothers, William (Lois) Crowder and Lynn (Wanda) Crowder; sisters, Margaret Paulk and Eunice Crowder; and many extended family members and friends to cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, June 7, 2021 between the hours of five and eight o’clock in the evening at Owen Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Field’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Johnny Culberson will be laid to rest immediately following the service in the Field’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
